Our Coordinator

Kathi Jeffra

"It is good that we are here" Matt 17:4

God Bless the crooked road that led me here. From Educator to Administrative Assistant to Resource Coordinator, now it is my honor to serve the community as Deaf Shalom Zone, Inc Program Coordinator.

Meet our new Case Manager

Patrick F. McCarthy

After a distinguished  career in education spanning from Middle School to University, and an illustrious career in theatre Patrick returns to Baltimore to give back to the Deaf community where he grew-up.

Hello ! This is me, Patrick ("Pax").

My greeting

I am glad to be back to Maryland to be closer to my family, and some old friends. I had been in Massachusetts for some 30 years, with occasional visits to Maryland.

I taught ASL for interpreter students, and I am proud many of them went on to become certified. I also worked part time with theatre interpreters in Boston. We were forever powerfully impacted by almost all of the interpreted plays.

I am so glad to be working here at Deaf Shalom Zone (DSZ), which focuses working with people to be successful in independent  living skills, such as reading and understanding important mail, using public transportation, budgeting, and the like. We also have a Food Bank. I work here on Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday afternoons. You can contact me on videophone, or email, DeafShalomZone.CM2@Gmail.com.

We always have volunteer opportunities, for Deaf, and/or also for hearing ASL students.  We need help painting and organizing for our new Baltimore Deaf History Room which will have a grand opening to be announced in few months. For other fun event announcements, you can contact me at DeafShalomZone.cm2@Gmail.com.

I hope you feel comfortable to talk with me about anything.
