Spotlight on Zone Volunteers

Lamont James didn’t know what he was getting into when he agreed to cook for a Sunday lunch at Christ united Methodist church of the deaf a few years ago.  Soon one meal turned into one a month, one a month turned into twice a month and shopping and cooking for countless Saturday night dinners.  These days Lamont is practically staff member for the church and the Zone.  He spends plenty of afternoons working in the kitchen cleaning out the fridges that no one else will touch, practicing meals for Sunday lunches, and rearranging the food bank.  Lamont also hunts down the best deals for the Deaf Shalom Zone monthly egg and milk giveaway.  He picks up the food and brings it in every fourth Sunday in time for us to pass it out to the many families that use that service.  He has also taught computer classes in the Zone lab and plans to teach more in the future. Lamont James is one of the many cherished Zone volunteers.  We are lucky to have such a committed group of people to work with.  Thanks Lamont!
