Success Stories

·   A Latino mother and her Deaf child with multiple disabilities were provided a volunteer Spanish interpreter who along with the Case Manager shepherded them until they received health insurance, quality medical care and an appropriate school placement for her son.

·   A Deaf man was referred to the Deaf Shalom Zone after he had contracted AIDS. He was homeless, had no benefits and no health insurance and was receiving no healthcare.  Our Case Manager secured for him a place to live, financial support, health insurance, and quality medical care.  The Case Manager continues on a weekly basis to support the management of his finances, medication and healthcare.

·   An elderly Deaf/Blind man was having problems remaining independent in his apartment and needed a companion and someone to monitor his medications. The Case Manager helped to match him with a young Deaf man who recently graduated from High School and needed a place to live.  The Case Manager also provided the young man with support to arrange his benefits and to obtain schooling. When the Deaf/Blind man’s situation deteriorated the Case Manager arranged and coordinated his transfer to an out of state facility.
